Welcome to Bluestocking! Bluestocking is an online journal that investigates the intellectual and artistic achievements of women throughout history. We publish insightful articles about the work of female thinkers of the past and thereby raise the profile of women as major figures in the history of creative thinking. To read more about the aims of Bluestocking, take a look at the About Us section.
To see the latest Bluestocking articles, visit the Current Issue. You can also browse past issues of the journal by visiting the Archives.
Bluestocking is edited and managed by students at the university of Oxford. Two issues of the journal are published online each term, so that six issues are published each year. The team behind Bluestocking change on a termly basis. If you would like to get involved with writing, designing, editing or PR, please see the application and article submission details on the Our Team page.
Issue 4 launches tonight, 8pm in the Rector's Lodgings of Exeter College, with special guest speakers DAME FIONA CALDICOTT, Principal of Somerville College and FRANCES CAIRNCROSS, Rector of Exeter College, examples of this issue's articles and, as ever, complementary refreshments.
To find out more about the original Bluestockings, visit the 'Brilliant Women: 18th Century Bluestockings' exhibition in the Porter Gallery of the National Portrait Gallery, London, from now until June 15th. Admission free.
